An almost deserted Australian shopping mall with a Woolworth Food Fair store, c. 1960. This shopping centre was located at Elizabeth, a new suburb just over 20 miles outside of Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1955, it was named ‘City of Elizabeth’. Although the City of Elizabeth no longer exists, having been amalgamated into the much larger City of Playford in 1997. The shopping mall is now a much larger, covered area called The Elizabeth Shopping Centre or Elizabeth City Centre. This image is from an amateur photographer’s 35mm colour transparency – it will look soft if used at too large a size.
