. Bulletin - United States National Museum. Science. THE SPIDER CRABS OF AMERICA 41 PODOCHELA ALGICOLA (Stebbing) Coryrhynchus algicola Stebbing, Trans. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh, vol. 50, 1914, p. 259, pi. 23 (.type-locality, off the coast of Brazil, lat. 18° 24' S., long 37° 58' W., 36 fathoms; station 81, Scotia; type in Dr. Bruce's Mus. Antarctica, Edinburgh, except first antennae and mouth parts which are mounted and in Mr. Stebbing's collection. Diagnosis.—Allied to P. riisei. Rostrum short, broadly rounded. A pair of tubercles on surface of carapace between e3^es. Edges of fingers (of female) crenulate, not denticulate. Ventral concave. Fig. 10.—Podochela algicola, female holotype, carapace 19 mm. long. a. Anterior portion, VENTRAL view. b. PROPODUS AND DACTYLU3 OF THIRD AMBULATORY LEG. C. ROSTRUM. d. CHELA. e. Maxilliped. (After Stebbing.) surface of basal antennal article acute at distal end, broadly tri- angular. (After Stebbing.) RemarJcs.—This may be the same form as the Brazilian specimen referred by Miers to riisei. The rostrum of algicola widens more than in riisei, but the dactyl of the fourth pereiopod (third ambula- tory) is of the same shape as in riisei; the penult article shown in figure "prp. 4" should undoubtedly be divided in two, as shown in the entire figure of the animal. Measurements.—Female, holotype, length of carapace 19, width 13, length of first ambulatory leg about 47 mm. (Stebbing.) Range.—Known only from the type specimen. (See above.).
