A veiled bride sitting atop a mule during a mock wedding at the Imilchil Brides Fair the High Atlas Morocco The fair or moussem which is held by the local Berber tribe is an annual event consisting of trading goods praying at a marabout the grave of a local saint and searching for a suitable marriage partner Wedding ceremonies are usually held after the festival but for the benefit of visitors mock marriages are staged in which the local marriage customs are shown According to local custom the bride is transported to the home of the groom on a mule and behind her sits a young boy belonging to her own family The striped woollen cloak worn by the woman to the left is typical of the women of the Hait Haddidou the local Berber tribe
