For the Maria Congress to be kept in Nijmegen, advertising had to be made and they decided to write a competition among Catholic artists. The jury contained Father Ligthart , Jonkheer van Rijckevorsel art historian, Joan Collette Artist, Van der Kallen editor -in -chief Gelderlander and Charles Estourgie Architect. Eventually the design of the Drawing Teacher W. Heijnen from Venlo was elected.
