IN this article are shown the principlesupon which the patterns for a cone-shaped flashing- is developed. What-ever pitch the roof may be the samemethod is adopted. The first step to take is to determinethe exact slope of the flashing-, carryingthe base of the cone below the actualpitch of the roof. The next step is tofind out the size of pipe for which theflashing is required, and also the sizeof the cone at its base. The beslt wayto do this is to make an outline drawingas shown by all the solid lines. At A-B-C-D-E-F is shown the eleva-tion of a pipe passing through a slopedroof G-H. The problem in this case isthe development of the cone flangearound the pipe and fitting on the roofas shown by B-C-D-E. To complete theview of cone extend the sides B-0 andD-E to their apex at K. The base ofwhich can be drawn parallel to B-E fromthe point D or any convenient point
