The Mercer Oak at Princeton Battlefield State Park at Princeton, , June 16, 2021. It is named after Brig. Gen. Hugh Mercer who was wounded during the Battle of Princeton. Mercer died nine days later in the Thomas Clarke House, which is also located at the Park. The original oak, which is believed to have been present during the Battle of Princeton, died in March 2000. An acorn from that oak, started in 1981, was planted next to the original tree’s stump in 2001.
