Roman burial house. Restorer working inside a Roman burial site. This is a type of burial site known as a columbarium, a place with niches for the placement of urns containing the ashes of cremated bodies. This columbarium was discovered at the Monte di Procida archaeological site, which is on the island of Procida, near Naples, Italy. The area around Naples was conquered by the Romans in the 4th century BC, and the Roman period came to an end there in the 5th century AD.
