The schooldoes not appear again in history till the dissolution of thepriory was impending in 1538, when a vehement petition forits continuance was presented by the prior, John Draper, oneof the chief reasons alleged being that the canons and theirpredecessors have used contynually hitherto to kepe a maisterto teache grammer to children and schollers there, and certeynof them havyng meate drynke and clothe .
