One of the sons ofthe last-named Richard was called John Richardson,taking his fathers name with the addition of son forhis surname. Hence came the name and family ofRichardson. It is now found in nearly every countyof England, and during the past seven hundred yearshas been prominent in nearly all departments ofhuman life, civil, military, literary, and the numerous descendants of the old Normansettling in America in
