OLD RAGS INTO NEW CLOTH: SALVAGE IN BRITAIN, APRIL 1942 - A mill girl works at a loom in at textile mill, somewhere in Britain. The weaving loom intertwines separate threads of warp and weft to produce woollen cloth. The warp is the thread which runs lengthways in the machine, with the weft being shuttled back and forth through it. The mill worker pictured here is putting the weft bobbin into the shuttle of the loom. A large basket of bobbins can be seen beside her
