The largest seizure of marijuana in Mexican history took place in Tijuana, Baja California on October 18, 2010 due to the efforts of an operation that involved the three levels of law enforcement --local, state and federal. Fifteen thousand, three hundred (15,300) packages of various sizes of the drug, weighing metric tons and with a street value in the US of 196 billion, 450 million dollars, was incinerated on October 20, 2010 on an Army base outside of Tijuana. Members of the national and international press were on hand to cover the drug burn.
