Lampung is the southern most province of Sumatra, bordering the Sunda Strait. West Lampung borders the ocean to the west of Sumatra, with its capitol at Liwa. It is known for Kopi Luwak, gum from the Damar tree and textiles. The tourism is primarily centered around surfing in the vicinity of Krui. The Damar tree (Shorea Javania), which is sustainably harvested for it resin. The gum is used in painting varnish, glazing for food, incense and mixed with paraffin for batiks.
