It was a little late in getting here, but the force with which it came more than made up for its tardiness. Busi- ness is slow, and it is hard to realize that the same class of stock that brought good prices two weeks ago is being sold for next to nothing. The supply of carnations is heavy and the .quality of the stock is good. Prices, however, have not held up at all well, and despite the tremendous drop in price, the cut is moving slowly. The supply of roses has shortened up considerably. During the first part of the week just past the quantity was so large that it was impossible to dis- pose of the cut and consequently some fine stock was thrown away. Toward the end of the week, however, the shortening was apparent; in fact, it was not possible to take care of some orders, received on short notice. The quality of the stock remains fine, but prices are lower than they should be at this time of year. Violets are plentiful. After the shortage of this stock so long this season, it is a relief to be able to take care of all orders, but the supply is now so heavy that trouble is experi- enced in disposing of what comes to the market Qach day. Quality is good, and the price is low enough, but still sales are none too numerous. Valley is also moving slowly. There is some good stock on the market, but it is mostly decorating the counters. The first tulips aiid a few jonquils have made their appearance on the market and are as good as can be expected for the first cut of the season.
