A microdrive data storage cartridge for the Sinclair QL personal computer.

Microdrives were used for mass storage on the Sinclair QL (Quantum Leap) personal computer, introduced in 1984. Each cartridge contained a 5 metre loop of magnetic tape capable of holding 100 KB of loop ran at 70 cm/sec under a head similar to that of a standard tape recorder. They never became generally used by other manufacturers due to their cost and unreliability and because they were introduced just as floppy discs were becoming the standard.
