He was a director,treasurer and attorney of the Mis-souri, Kansas & Texas R. R., forseveral years previous to his was a Democrat in politics andheld several offices; was treasurer ofHenry county and judge of the cir-cuit court. He was a very successful lawyerand business man. The Clinton BarAssociation paid him a glowing trib-ute; from the resolution presented atthe time of his death, we quote thefollowing: that the legal profession. Judge Royal Ladd Burge. of this city and of the 7th Judicial Circuit is now deprived of one of its oldestand most distinguished and successful members; one who in all his socialand professional relations was ever kind hearted, generous and honorable. He was married October 12, 1854, to Mary Lucinda Pennock, daughterof Cyril Pennock, the first cadet enrolled in the Old A. L. S. & M. died in Clinton, Mo., January 12, 1910. Two children were born to them:Royal Joseph, born August 11, 1850, died in Clinton, Mo., January 7,1880;Frederick Everett, born November 28, 1832, resides in St. Paul, Minn. GEORGE ATWOOD CHURCHILL. George A. Churchill, son of Capt. Henry Ufford, and Emily Green (Hall)Churchill, was l)orn in Portland, Conn., October 22, 1833, and died there June17, 1850. He entered the University in 1848 and remained nearly two years; was acabinet maker in Portland, Conn., and died there of a dise
