Left foot.—In a similar contlition; a more definite line of demarcation encircledthe ankle joint. The general condition of the patient was fair. Temperature 101° F.; pulse112; respirations 28; condition of lungs, negative; slight systolic murmur overthe pulmonic area. Urine: acid; specific gravity 1015; faint trace of albumin;and a few hyaline and granular casts. Three da^s after admission both feet were amputated, the bones being sawed. Little drainage provided for. Two days after the operation the anterior flaps of both stumps showed areas ofsuperficial gangrene. The stump of the right leg finally healed, but it was foundnecessary to do an amputation of the left leg at the knee-joint before healingtook place. On the thirty-fourth day after the exposure an amputation of the left handwas done at the carpo-metacarpal articulation. The thumb was amputated at themetacarpo-phalangeal joint.
