Rows of Commonwealth War Graves in Kranji war cemetery, Singapore

There are 4,461 Commonwealth casualties of World War 2 commemorated at Kranji, including more than 850 unidentified graves. Most died during the battle for Malaya and Singapore, or during the subsequent Japanese occupation of the island. The names of a further 24,346 Allied soldiers, sailors, and airmen for whom no remains could be found (and thus no grave established) are recorded on the wall of the central memorial. There are also 64 World War 1 headstones.
