Arctic Resupply Mission. A boat crew from the Coast Guard icebreaker WESTWIND is shown at boat drill in open Arctic waters. The opportunities in Arctic waters for such physical exercises are seldom, but whenever conditions permit boat drills are a must in keeping the crew fit. The Coxswain is Joseph G. Mattiachi, Boatswains Mate 2nd Class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mattiacci of 20465 Damman Rd. Harper Woods, Michigan. Having spent 30 out of his 33 months of Coast Guard service on board the WESTWIND, this is his second trip to the Arctic.
