Visitors to London Zoo were kept well away from the animals but Elephants did manage to reach out for a few treats. This was enjoyed by visitors, but not in keeping with modern zoo practices. In Oct 2001 one of the keepers Jim Robson was killed by an elephant (not this one) which speeded up ZSL's plans to move their three London elephants to Whipsnade where there was a much bigger enclosure
