Little Gidding Church
The first record of Little Gidding was made in 1279 but by 1370 the population had collapsed to only 18 possibly because of the black death In 1630 the village was taken over by Nicholas Ferrar who restored the village and church He set the village up as a religious community it is still a place of pilgrimage today King Charles 1st visited Little Gidding several times the last of which was on 2nd May 1646 seeking refuge after the Civil War T S Eliot was also a regular visitor it is here that he wrote his best known poem Little Gidding
