John Knox statue on top of 58 ft () sandstone Doric column in Glasgow's necropolis
The statue of John Knox was placed on the highest hill in Glasgow in the Necropolis and designed by William Warren showing John Knox wearing his Geneva gown with his right arm half extended and holding a Bible in his right hand. The 58 ft () sandstone Doric column and base was designed by an Edinburgh architect Thomas Hamilton and the self taught sculptor Robert Forrest carved the statue in sandstone.
