Male Southern Emu-wren sitting on yellow Banksia flower, Rocky Cape, Tasmania, Australia

The Southern Emu-wren is one of Australia’s smallest birds with a body only about 6cm long and tail feathers another 13cm or so. The name Emu-wren comes from the similarity between its tail feathers and those of an emu,. however the emu is hundreds of times larger than the Emu-wren!
