Taking blood sample. Nurse using a needle to puncture a vein (venepuncture) in the arm of a 45-year-old man. The needle is connected to a vacutainer, a tube that contains a partial vacuum that draws blood into the tube. The upper arm of the patient has a tourniquet (green) tied around it to make the veins more visible. The sample of blood will be labelled and sent for testing.
