Phainopepla Perched On a Scrub Oak

The solid black Phainopepla is the first I have seen, or at least identified as such. It had perched among the top branches of a scrub oak a few yards from the balcony where I stood, and I could not tell if it was a starling. The shiny feathers with hints of iridescence drew my camera lens, and these are the results. I wish it had remained longer.
