Viktor Stepanovich Chernomyrdin, Viktor Chernomyrdin, (1938-2010). Chernomyrdin was the first chairman of Gazprom, Russia’s first state-corporate enterprise and became Russia’s second Prime Minister under President Yeltsin. From 2001 to 2009 Chernomyrdin was the Russian ambassador to the Ukraine.
