. 4 Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Captain Burrows enlisted in the West Riding Regiment in 1914. He received his commission in January 1915 and was posted to the Western Front in July where he became a casualty of a gas attack near Ypres. Captain Burrows was killed at Neuve Eglise aged 23 on 14 April 1918. He is commemorated at the Tyne Cot Memorial.
