Bushes of strong, vigorous growth, maturing and fiuiting early, bears abundantly. Berries almost as large as Downing, pale greenish color, quality- good. Industry.—Though an English variety it succeeds admirably throughout the north- ern portion of the United States, but it is a little impatient of hot suns, and south of New York it is not always to be depended upon. Under favorable conditions it bears immense crops and is quite exempt from mildew. It has the peculiar advantage of coming into leaf before it flowers, consequently the foliage protects the bloom from destructive spring frosts. The berries are exceedingly large, of a dark red or cherry color, and of delicious quality when ripe. It has been fruited quite largely in this country for several years and has thus far proved unequaled for size, flavor, productiveness and vigorous growth. In cool, rich soil and with a northern exposure it will yield an abundance of large, luscious fruit. And it also succeeds well under the shade of trees when not too INDUSTRY. Red Jacket.—A new, red berry, as large as the largest; smooth, very prolific and hardy; quality and foliage the best.
