Yellow spotted Hyraxes Heterohyrax brucei Zimbabwe Africa Distributed in eastern half of Africa Lives in wooded localities on riverbands escarpments and rock outcrops Normally shelters in rocks but may resort to trees termitaries or old burrows Often found in joint colonies with rock hyraxes Eats leaves fruits stems twigs and bark Single colonies can number up to 34 individuals They utter sustained 5 minute bouts of loud call a whining croak that is much less resonant and deep than that of other hyraxes
