Battle Cruiser SMS Lützow. Admiral Hipper's flag from the Battle of the Skagerrak (Jutland). White naval flag cloth, imprinted with black and red, the edge with naval acceptance stamp Gothic "M" under a crown in addition to the stamping "Contr. Admiral." Slight damage, contemporary repairs, age marks. Dimensions ca. 250 x 220 cm. This flag can be recognised flying on the foremast of SMS Lützow in Claus Bergen's painting (cf. lot no. 4971).
