06/11/16 ***WITH VIDEO*** Despite temperatures barely rising above freezing around 1,400 crazy runners took on the cross-country challenge of a four-and-a-three-quarter mile run around the iconic Peak District beauty spot of the stepping stones at Dovedale. And it wasn’t just human runners splashing through the River Dove, several hundred dogs had joined their owners to enjoy the 60th Dovedale Dash, an annual race which sees competitors tackle a circular loop to and from Thorpe. The popular race, which attracts many runners in fancy dress, was first run in 1953 but has missed some years due to flooded rivers and muddy pastures. All Rights Reserved F Stop Press Ltd.
