Alexander Boksenberg (born 1936), British astrophysicist. Boksenberg has worked on active galactic nuclei and primordial galaxies. He is Honorary Professor of Experimental Astronomy at the University of Cambridge and Chair of the UK National Commission for UNESCO. Here, he is holding an intensifying camera related to the Image Photon Counting System (IPCS). Boksenberg was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1978. He was made CBE in 1996. His awards include the Jackson-Gwilt Medal (1998) and the Hughes Medal (1999), the latter in part for his work on the IPCS. Photographed in 2008, at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge, UK.
