Bright red coachwork gleams in July sunshine on Model ‘T’ Ford EL 1776 at the 50th Anniversary Woodcote Steam and Vintage Transport Rally at Woodcote, Oxfordshire, England, UK. This superbly restored veteran car was built in 1909, four years before Henry Ford stipulated that customers could have his automobiles in the colour of their choice - “so long as it is black”.
Woodcote, Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom: the bright red coachwork and brass work of Model ‘T’ Ford EL 1776 gleams in July sunshine at the 50th Anniversary Woodcote Steam and Vintage Transport Rally. Although some visitors to the show might have thought that Model ‘T’ Fords should always be black, in line with Henry Ford’s famous quote that customers could have any colour “so long as it was black”, the proud owner of this superbly restored and maintained example points out in a hand-painted notice that Ford’s rule only applied to vehicles built between 1913 and 1925. This veteran was built in 1909, at a time when Ford’s customers could still specify their own choice of colour.
