Met Office weather station. Anemometers on the tower and the ground record wind speeds, while thermometers and other instruments in the Stevenson screen (white, centre left) make other recordings. Rain gauges are seen on the ground. Various wiring points allow data to be transmitted to a central repository. This weather station is operated by the Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. It is located at RAF Wittering, UK. The weather station here began operating in 1948. Photographed in 1982.
