Gertrude Jekyll"s Garden on Lindisfarne, Holy Island, in springtime, with Lindisfarne Castle in the background.

Gertrude Jeykll was an arts and crafts garden designer. Friends with Edwin Lutyens, architect and owner of Lindisfarne Castle, she was asked to make a garden on Lindisfarne, Holy Island. She turned an existing walled vegetable garden into a flower garden in 1911 and it remains planted to her gardening principles.
