A thorough mechanic, hisknowledge of machinery was something re-markable, and the Ar7<.S office bears testimonythereto. The establishment of the Xc7ls wasmade by Mr. Fernald mainly in view of thetalent of his only son, George W., whichpromised success in the editing of the the decease of the son on November 2,1890, Mr. Fernald continued the publicationof the Arzus, on lines known to have been con-sidered by his son, until his own death, July28, 1895. The property is now in the handsand under the supervision of his wife, fromwhom it receives careful attention.
