Close up of small red tiled tower at top of Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. Concrete sides with window and decorative ceramic tile top which blends into concrete roof below. Moravian Pottery and Tile Works is a unique poured concrete building designed and built by Henry Mercer during the Art and Crafts movement. It reflects the Spanish influence on mission architecture and was completed in 1912. It produced hand made tiles and mosaics for floors, walls and ceilings. Now a National Historic Landmark it is maintained as a working "working history" museum still producing a few limited decorative ceramic tiles.
