Rojen Monastery, detail of iconcostasis in small chapel St. Cosmas and Damian (Holy Healers), situated in the northern part of the church, Bulgaria
Built in the 13th century, Rojen Monastery, also known as the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, was demolished and rebuilt several times, especially after the passage of the Turks. Today's monastery, still in operation, dates mainly from the 18th century. In the northern part of the church is the chapel dedicated to Saints Unmercenaries Kozma and Damian (Holy Healers), who are popular in these parts and known for their mild climate and mineral springs. To the left of the entrance to the chapel is the portrait of the nun Melania, probably donor of the monastery.
