Moni Rani, and her husband Dulal Chandra Dhar, run a workshop of conch ornaments, locally known as ‘Shakha’. They have married off their two daughters and their only son helps them in the business. They have been with Grameen Bank for 20 years. They took two loans; Taka 60,000 and Taka 80,000. They have seven craftsmen or ‘Karigar’. The conch comes from Sri Lanka. They supply the ornaments to Shakhari Bazaar in Dhaka and other districts like Tangail, Pabna, and Rangpur. Nayapur, Narayanganj, Bangladesh. January 28, 2007.
