Mountain gorillas in Uganda can be visited in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is a dense, tropical forest which is in the same volcanic region as Rwanda and the Congo where mountain gorillas can also be found. The gorillas live in families and visitors trek for a variable period of time through the forest to find a family. The gorillas are habituated and pay little attention to the visitor and may approach quite close.
