A cased breech-loading air rifle, Samuel Staudenmayer, London, circa 1820. The Damascus twist barrel is octagonal for a short distance then round and unscrews from the receiver. It has microgroove rifling in 10 mm calibre, and is inscribed "London" in front of the rear sight. Iron receiver (the copper air pipe is a replacement) engraved with flowers and vines.
