Living room, house of Mrs Arthur Ryerson, Chicago, Illinois, 1922. Artist: Unknown.

Living room, house of Mrs Arthur Ryerson, Chicago, Illinois, 1922. Emily Ryerson was the wife of Arthur Larned Ryerson, a Chicago businessman. She survived the sinking of the 'Titanic', but her husband lost his life in the disaster, refusing to take a place in a lifeboat until all the women and children had been saved. Tragically, the couple had been travelling back to America from Europe to attend the funeral of their son, Arthur Jr, who had been killed in a car crash. From The Architectural Forum Volume XXXVI.
