A hunting hanger for forest officials, circa 1800 Sturdy, single-edged blade with wide fullers on both sides and a double-edged point. The manufacturer's mark "P. KNECHT _ SOLINGEN" stamped on the ricasso. Brass knuckle-bow hilt with bone grip, the guard plate engraved with a wreath of oak leaves and the cypher "WL" below a prince's crown for Landgraf Wilhelm. Leather-covered wooden scabbard with brass fittings, with a frog stud at the locket, here also a by-knife with horn grip inserted.
