Normal breast after breast reconstruction surgery. Post-operative view of the unreconstructed breast of a 52-year-old woman who has had surgery to excise breast cancer from her left breast (not seen). The operation was a removal of part of the breast and the nipple, followed by reconstruction of the breast using a DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) flap. This image is taken as part of the process of monitoring the patient before and after surgery. For a close-up of the reconstructed breast for comparison, see image C038/9459.
