Festive Maslenitsa Town and Ice Sculpture on Manezhnaya Square in Moscow
Public festivities on Manezhnaya Square on which the Maslenitsa (Pancake week) town was built with an atmosphere of the late 19th-early 20th centuries. During Moscow Maslenitsa Festival, Muscovites and guests of the city can find out how people in Russia saw off winter, had fun and what they cooked more than hundred years ago. In the center of the small festive town there is a huge eight-meter ice sculpture of Maslenitsa, created by five talented ice sculptors who worked on it simutoluosly. The ice sculpture was made of 30 tons of ice that was delivered from Pervouralsk (1700 km East from Moscow), which was cut in a mountain lake. Guests were offered pancakes made to old and modern unique recipes, as well as fresh and tasty foods from farms from all over the country including cheeses, fish and meat delicacies. The Maslenitsa Festival is part of the Moscow Seasons city street events.
