Stoppelaere House, built to a plan of Hasan Fathy in the 1950s as both a guest house for the Department of Antiquities and the headquarters and apartment of Dr. Alexander Stoppelaere who was the chief restorer of the Department at that time. Stoppelaere House is one of the most important works by the great Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy (1899-1989). Restoration works were undertaken under the direction of Architect Dr. Tarek Waly
