Fort Mifflin represents the only pre-Revolutionary fort destroyed by the British, rebuilt during the 18th century, and retained as part of the United States coastal defense in the 20th century. Fort Mifflin is located on Mud Island in the Delaware River, just south of Philadelphia, PA.
