The rally car sped onto the scene - rounding the bend at roughly 50 miles-per-hour. NAIVASHA, KENYA: SHOCKING images have captured an antelope being chased by a race car during a controversial safari rally in Kenya. In one image, the 440-pound hartebeest antelope sprinted in front of the Toyota Yaris rally car which kicked up a huge cloud of dust as it sped through the African savannah at 50 miles-per-hour. In another, the speedy hartebeest put some distance between itself and the car as it managed to outrun the vehicle. The photographs were captured by photographer Paras Chandaria (38) from Nairobi, Kenya, during the World Rally Championship?s Safari Rally Race 2021, run by the FIA and held on the Kedong Ranch in Naivasha, Kenya. The race returned to Kenya after a 19-year hiatus and sees entrants race across 200-miles of the African savannah ? often encountering the area?s animal inhabitants along the way. Due to the danger of having wildlife in such close proximity to fast-travelling cars, many have opposed the race. Paras captured the images using a Canon 1DX Mark III camera and a Canon 400mm ISM 2 lens. WRC world champion Sebastien Ogier was driving the Toyota Yaris. He took the Safari Rally title later in the day. The Safari Rally Race will continue to be held in Kenya for at least the next five years. Chandaria
