With over 80 garden landscapes spread across 12 hectares with an altitude difference of 100 metres, the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are a stupendous treat for nature-lovers and a worthy attraction for everyone spending their holidays in Merano/Meran. Flowers, bushes and trees from all over the world thrive in astounding variety within the carefully groomed areas of these gardens. Several animals species inhabit the grounds: Rabbits, peacocks, sheep, snakes, parrots, Chinese ducks and Japanese carp are a compelling draw for themselves, especially for children! A number of Experience Stations, themed gardens, artistic pavilions and more enrich the botanical context, making the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle as spectacular as they are unique. Since 2002 the Touriseum – South Tyrol’s Museum of Tourism – has been a welcome addition to the already rich palette of attractions at the Trauttmansdorff Castle. Beautifully restored, the rooms of the castle now offer a journey into 200 years of Alpine tourism history.
