Overhead the sky ishidden for the most part behind a veil of light cloud; the stillwaters reflecting the grey of the cloud, forms an occasionalpatch of tender blue. Signed at the lower left, S. Height. 14L2 inches; length, 23 No. 62IILL AGE BY THE RIVER LOUIS EUGENE BOUDIN No. 62 LOUIS EUGENE BOUDIX FRENCH ( 1824-1898) VILLAGE BY THE RIVER The waters of a peaceful river run right across the foregroundof the picture, with a rowboat and a barge with two brownsails passing gently across the scene, while other craft aremoored at the waters edge. Upon the bank is spread thepanorama of a populous little village, the white walls and blueslate roofs reflected from the surface of the water as in a mir-ror. Behind the village the ground rises in a long range oflow hills, clothed with trees for the most part, the fields shin-ing golden with the growth of corn. Overhead the sky is cov-ered with a heavy stratum of rolling white cloud, betweenwhich the blue of the heavens appears brilliant and serene. Signed at the lower tight, Yj. Boidin.
