Impetigo skin infection. Newborn baby with pemphigus impetigo neonatorum, a form of exfoliative dermatitis. This condition may be atopic (due to an allergic response), or may be caused by Leiner's disease, or infection of the skin with staphylococcal bacteria. Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome results in the shedding of large areas of epidermis. Treatment of bacterial skin infections is by topical and oral antibiotics.
